Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive treatment that improves overall skin tone and texture. This treatment also has the ability to diminish the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin-related concerns and conditions.

Microdermabrasion rejuvenates the skin through an applicator with an abrasive surface to smoothen the outer layer of the skin.

Mircodermabrasion is a safe treatment for most skin types and colors. You may consider getting this treatment if you have the following dermatological concerns:

  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • hyperpigmentation, age spots and brown spots
  • enlarged pores and blackheads
  • acne and acne scars
  • stretch marks
  • dull-looking skin complexion
  • uneven skin tone and texture
  • melasma
  • sun damage

How does microdermabrasion work?

The procedure of Microdermabrasion is performed in a clinic and is done by a licensed skincare professional for an hour.

The patient sits in a reclining chair and the skincare professional will start abrading the outer layer of the skin with a handheld device. A moisturizer is applied to the skin after the treatment.

There are a few different ways to do the procedure, based on the specific device used:

Diamond-tip handpiece

A handpiece with a diamond-tip is used to exfoliate dead skin cells while simultaneously sucking the scraped dead skin. The depth of the abrasion is determined by the amount of time the suction remained on the skin and the pressure applied on the handpiece. The diamond microdermabrasion is only performed close to the eyes and other sensitive areas.

Crystal microdermabrasion

Fine crystals are used in crystal microdermabrasion to remove the outer layer of your skin safely. Dead skin cells are simultaneously suctioned off fast. Crystals used for this treatment include aluminum oxide and sodium bicarbonate.

Hydradermabrasion

Hydradermabrasion is a combination of dermal infusion and crystal-free exfoliation, which stimulate collagen production and boosts blood flow to the skin.
